Rex Ryan and Tim Tebow are the antithesis of each other. One can be seen with a halo above his head while the other may appear to have horns at times. That doesn’t mean that the two can’t get along, however.
The Jets acquired Tebow and a 7th round draft pick Wednesday in exchange for a 4th and 6th round draft pick.
Tebow said that he’s wanted to play for Ryan ever since seeing HBO’s football series, Hard Knocks, which covered the Jets in 2010.
“I wanted to play for Coach Ryan ever since I saw ‘Hard Knocks.’ He just seemed like a coach who loves football and is passionate about the game of football. He’s definitely a players’ coach. I just love that about him.”
“I have so much respect for Coach Ryan. He’s a coach you want to play for, a coach you want to go out there and do good for. … There’s not many NFL locker rooms you’re going to go where you have the cleanest language, so I’m not too worried about that.” – Tim Tebow (New York Jets)
Tebow is no longer the biggest thing in his city. He may even be able to put on a hat and sunglasses and take a stroll on the lower east side without being recognized. That’s the great thing about New York. You can be the biggest star there, but the city also grants you a certain level of anonymity due to its size.
