The Manning signing and the very real possibility that Tebow is on his way out is great news for the Broncos and their fans. Tebow could be fun to watch in some of his early games, but by the end opposing teams had him figured out and then he and the Broncos just looked pathetic. Now we have a real quarterback again--something to get excited about. The Tebow-huggers will gripe, but mainstream Bronco fans have to be thrilled. Thanks John Fox! Thanks #7!

This acquisition is the best thing to happen to the Broncos organization since the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning provides many opportunities for the Broncos, regardless of whether he wins or not. Here are some reasons to prefer Manning over Tebow.
1. He brings others with him- If Denver truly wants to have any shot of becoming a fierce competitor in the NFL they need to build a team. After McDaniels dropped a a-bomb on the program, the personnel was left in shambles, leaving the only option for growth in the draft because Denver didn't have a program free agents looked towards. With Peyton under center or contract, heads turn. This signing allows Denver to pursue big names like Mike Wallace, Dallas Clark, and many other household names. These players would otherwise look elsewhere with the madness going on in Denver. In fact, many players already with the Broncos were looking to leave because they grew tired of the Tebow hype. (Example:Eddie Royal, Lloyd) We now have a chance to build a PROGRAM long after Manning's stint in Denver is over. 2. Manning under center makes Denver's defense better- Manning is notorious for stringing out long drives and avoiding 3-and-outs, something TT was prone to do. Allowing opposing teams less time on the field means they have less time to run up scores. Take the playoff loss to the Pats, Manning under center, regardless of his scoring ability, makes the game closer at the end. 3. TT was not a good long term solution for the Broncos- Yes, TT did have a winning record as a Broncos. Yes, TT did have some miraculous comebacks. Yes, TT did lead a mediocre Denver team to a slightly above mediocre playoff appearance. NO that DOESN'T mean he was GOOD. His even Tim's good statistics gradually crept downward as the season went on and defenses caught on. The CHIEFS held him to 3 points. He did have a good game against the Steelers, but that was a defensive scheme that basically didn't have safeties, daring him to throw. Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn, and certainly Peyton Manning could make that OT pass to DT 99/100 times. TT is a one look quarterback that cant do anything other than run option offenses and NFL defenses are simply to adaptive and fast for that to remain effective for long. He would have had a mediocre if not plain bad outing in 2012 for Denver and its good we are looking elsewhere, even if, god forbid, Peyton doesn't make it through the season. 4. Peyton WILL win shorterm- Isn't that all we can ask for? It is sheer stupidity to write off the Peyton move by saying "Well what about the long-term, Peyton has at best 4 years" or something to that effect. Assuming Peyton has something left in the tank, like 2 time super bowl champ Elway believes he does, (and I tend to think he may be a reliable source on this one) than it will be an improvement. We can worry about the quarterback position long-term when that time comes. But for me, I'm going to live for the present and am ecstatic to see the Broncos being real contenders again, and I think any true BRONCOS fan should be satisfied with that as well.
