It may be no surprise, but the teams in the lead to most likely land Peyton Manning are the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals – the two teams that Manning has visited with.
According to Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks are trying to set up a meeting with Manning, but their request has not been granted. Additionally,
“One source who spoke with Manning prior to his visit with the Cardinals said ‘his gut is that Manning is leaning toward Denver.'” – ESPN
It helps that John Elway is in the front office, a man who has won two Super Bowls in his late 30s. It also helps that John Fox is a defensive minded head coach who will likely willingly hand the offense over to Manning.
Arizona has its own strengths, however. They have arguably the best receiver in the game in Larry Fitzgerald. They play in a stadium that can be converted to a dome (Manning won 70% of his games at Lucas Oil, a domed stadium). He’s also close with Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
Manning is coming close to making his decision. He will arrive back in Miami (he has a house there) and possibly meet with the Dolphins early this week. However, sources say that Denver and Arizona are his top 2 choices.
