Manning, Tebow Teammates Unlikely To Happen

Peyton Manning billboards are already going up in Miami and Arizona, but don’t expect Denver to join in on the fun.

Manning was officially released by the Indianapolis Colts after a very emotional press conference Wednesday afternoon.

“I truly have enjoyed being your quarterback,” Manning concluded.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos will put a call into Manning’s agent Tom Condon simply to inquire about the future Hall of Fame quarterback.  If the Broncos can protect themselves in a contract deal so that Manning’s neck issues won’t bring the team down financially then the Broncos could be in the running.

As heads in the Mile High City turn and wonder What Would Tebow Do, errr, I mean will we bid Tebow adieu, Klis tells us that the team is “likely to stick with Tebow.”

But what if?

The Broncos do seem capable of handling the Manning/Tebow circus.

"John Fox is a 57-year-old head coach. He proved in 2011 that he would be willing to alter his offense to fit his quarterback. Manning seemingly had full control of the Indianapolis Colts’ offense from 1998-2010 and figures to want similar responsibility again. Who could better handle Manning and the Tebowmania circus than John Fox? – Mike Klis (Denver Post)"

After some success last season and in the process of building on that success, Denver could be seen as a great sport for Manning to end his career on a winning note. The Broncos have pieces falling into place to be a true contender year after year with their young talent.

High on the list of possible destinations for Manning include Washington and Miami. I don’t think Manning would like to play in the same division as his brother, Eli, nor would he like to play Tom Brady at least twice a year to get to the Super Bowl.

The New York Jets have raised some eyebrows by showing an interest despite their commitment to Mark Sanchez. Arizona has shown an interest as well. Who wouldn’t want to see a Manning-to-Larry Fitzgerald connection in the desert?

While the Broncos will place that call, don’t expect a lot to come from it. We can dream, however. What would you think if the Broncos signed Manning and kept Tebow?
