There's no red carpet or bad jokes at this awards show, just Broncos fans voting on who they want to see take home a "Golden Bucky". (Dustin Davis)

PO "Golden Bucky" Fan Vote Awards

Along with it being Super Bowl season, it is also awards season in the world of entertainment.  In fact, just this morning the nominees for the 84th annual Academy Awards were announced.  So I thought, why not have an “awards show” of sorts for our beloved Denver Broncos, who are well worthy of some honors after a miraculous 2011-12 season that saw them win the AFC West Division title and go on to beat the defending AFC Champion Pittsburgh Steelers in a thrilling Wildcard playoff game.  The Broncos may not have made it to the Super Bowl, but that doesn’t mean the team isn’t due some super praise.

So, welcome, Ladies and Gentleman, to the First Annual (well, it’s definitely the first but who knows if it will be annually) Predominantly Orange “Golden Bucky” Fan Vote Awards!  Named after Bucky the Bronco, the 30 ft tall fiberglass statue that has watched over every Denver Broncos home game since 1976, the “Golden Bucky” is awarded to the winner of the fan vote in several different categories.  Each week will be a new category, with fans being able to vote throughout the week on who they believe is deserving of that particular honor.

So, without further adieu, here are the categories:

Offensive Player of the Year – The player that had the best season on the offensive side of the ball.

Defensive Player of the Year – The player that had the best season on the defensive side of the ball.

Comeback Player of the Year – The player that had a less than stellar year the previous season but improved dramatically this season.

Underrated Player of the Year - The player that had an exceptional year, but flew under the radar and didn’t get the recognition for it.

Breakout Player of the Year – The player that had the best, but surprising, season.

New Addition of the Year - The individual who made the biggest impact in their first season with the Denver Broncos.

Game of the Year – The most important or flat out best game of the season.

And finally, the top two awards…

Most Valuable Player (MVP) - The player that was of the most value to the entire Broncos team.

Moment of the Year - The play or moment from the season that will live on forever in the memories of Broncos fans.

And those are the categories.  So now, let’s vote on one!  The first category up for voting is Offensive Player of the Year.  Voting ends on Sunday, Jan. 29th at midnight, so get those votes in and tune in next week to see who gets the inaugural “Golden Bucky” award and to vote on the next category!

Who was the Denver Broncos' Offensive Player of the Year this season?

  • Willis McGahee (54%, 39 Votes)

  • Ryan Clady (3%, 2 Votes)
