It was down to two in Miami yesterday.
Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin were the Dolphins top two candidates in their head coaching search. In the end Philbin won out, and McCoy will remain the Broncos offensive coordinator.
McCoy has been highly sought after for teams looking to fill their head coaching vacancies mostly because he worked with what he had. He made the read-option successful in Denver and utilized Tim Tebow’s strengths while transitioning from Kyle Orton to the Mile High Messiah.
“I appreciate the opportunity Mr. Ross and the Miami Dolphins gave me,” McCoy said. “I am very fortunate to work for the Denver Broncos. We have a great job here. Our family loves living in Denver.” – McCoy to the Denver Post
Some have expressed displeasure in McCoy’s play calling, deeming it too conservative and too predictable. That’s why his potential departure from Denver drew some celebration.
On the other hand, Tebow and the Broncos offense could benefit from consistency.
Tell me what you think of McCoy staying with the Broncos.
