In a statement that surprises almost no one that knows anything about the Denver Broncos, John Elway named Tim Tebow the Broncos starting quarterback heading into the off season.
“Tim is the starting quarterback going into training camp,” Elway said. “He made great strides. He has earned the right to be the starter going into training camp next year.” – Tom Kensler (Denver Post)
Who else were they going to name the starter? Brady Quinn, who hasn’t taken a regular season snap in more than two years?
With Tebow being named the starter, that doesn’t mean that the Broncos will lay all their eggs in one basket, however.
“Also, Elway said the team will “be in the market to find more quarterbacks” via free agency or the draft,” (Denver Post)
At least this off season,Tebow has the chance to work with team coaches and Elway to become an even more successful quarterback. It should be an eventful springtime for the third year QB.
