Josh McDaniels Re-Signs With Patriots

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Josh McDaniels signed his contract with the New England Patriots and is set to begin his second tenure with the team on Monday.

He will be an offensive assistant for the remainder of the Patriots’ 2011 season since Bill O’Brien is the team’s offensive coordinator. Then when O’Brien steps away to take over as Penn State’s head coach, McDaniels will step back into the role of offensive coordinator for the Patriots.

Those thoughts of McDaniels reuniting with Matt Cassel and Kyle Orton in Kansas City can be put to rest. McDaniels will be back in the position that he had prior to his brief stint with the Denver Broncos.

Should the Broncos beat the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, they will take on the Patriots (in New England) in the divisional round next week. They are already set to take on the Patriots in 2012.

I wasn’t a big fan of his, but I often wondered what his big picture was with running the offense with Tebow.
