Compared to other teams, the Denver Broncos have been relatively lucky on the injury front. Other teams have starters headed to or are already on the IR while the Broncos have remained relatively healthy all year. Don’t worry, I’m knocking on all of the wood in my house.
There’s one starter, however, that had some rough luck as the regular season came to a close.
Sixteen year veteran Brian Dawkins has sat out the better part of the team’s last four games with a neck injury. For a veteran player like that to miss his team’s first playoff game, it has to be eating at him.
“Brian has been a big part of this season, a big part of this team, and hopefully we can get him well soon,” John Fox said.
As for whether Dawkins will return if the Broncos advance, or even if he will play next season, Coach Fox doesn’t want to go there.
“The future much after Sunday, I’m not thinking about,” Fox said.
David Bruton will be the Broncos starting strong safety on Sunday.
