Eric Decker was given a silver football helmet by John Fox yesterday after practice. The second-year wide receiver didn’t trade in his orange and blue helmet for a shinier look. Coach Fox handed Decker the helmet because Decker was named to the USA Football All-Fundamentals team.
Football is nothing without fundamentals. For that reason, we honor 26 NFL players for executing the fundamentals of their positions. They aren’t chosen based on statistics and athleticism but because they embody the most essential part of the game … fundamentals. -USA Football
“It’s quite an honor from the guys that picked it,” Decker said. “It is a team game and without the guys on this team, I wouldn’t of had the award.”
Decker leads the team in receiving with 42 catches for 585 yards and 8 touchdowns. Decker was drafted out of Minnesota with the 23rd pick in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft.
