Broncos vs. Chargers: Inside The Villain’s Venue

The Broncos have already played the Chargers, but this is an entirely new Chargers team this month. The last time the Bolts won was when they traveled to Denver back in October. That’s right, the Chargers have lost five straight.

Today we’re going to revisit Ernie Padaon from Bolt Beat to find out what’s going on with the Chargers. We’ll also get his prediction for Sunday’s game.

Let’s go Inside the Villain’s Venue with Bolt Beat.

Q: Usually the Chargers play their best ball in November and December, but they’ve dropped five straight. Why the drop in performance this year? Do you expect them to make another run at the end of the year?

A: The drop in performance is as inexplicable as the drop in performance from Philip Rivers. We go as Philip goes AND Philip has not been doing anything for us especially when the game is close and late. The 4th quarter used to be a time that we could trust Philip the most, but his numbers during this losing streak are ridiculously UGLY. It started in New York where he threw an interception to get the Jets back into it and then he botched a snap when a field goal would have won them a game in KC and it has continued on and on and on.

We definitely still have a run left in us. We have to start with a win against you guys first and then we can focus on the next few games. A win would be a huge confidence builder and as time goes on we can get some bodies off of that injury report.

Q: Philip Rivers leads the league in interceptions. Is that more a function of Rivers’ poor performance or a poor offensive line?

A: This is more of a confidence issue now. He did not get sacked once last week and he still threw two interceptions in the game. One on a 3rd down play where a field goal would have brought us within 8 and then the last one he was just trying to throw the ball away. His decision making is getting questioned and he has a huge monkey on his back that he needs to break free of.

Q: What’s your prediction for Sunday’s game?

A: We get back to winning against you guys. The last time we won was against you and we start building some confidence again against you. It has been a difficult ride, but if we can put some 7s on the board early it seems that Tim Tebow is not able to pass the team back into it.
