Just when will Tim Tebow be taken seriously? Does a 4-1 record as a starter this season not cut it?
Apparently so for the team’s vice president of football operations John Elway. According to the Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, Gary Miller of 102.3 FM in Denver asked Elway the following question:
“Any closer to feeling if you have your quarterback on this team?”
Elway flat out answered “no.”
He then went on to say,
“Tim Tebow did exactly what he thought he could on Thursday night. When we get in tough situations, he’s a guy that’s going to be able to make those plays…I think obviously he’s making progress week in and week out. When you look at our third down numbers, those have to improve. I mean, that’s the bottom line,” Elway said. “We can’t go 3-for-13 and win a world championship. Those are the type of things we have to keep improving.” (Denver Post)
Is Elway right in questioning Tebow’s status on this team? What more does the second year QB have to do to prove that he’s the right man for the job?
The bottom line for Tebow’s potential as an NFL quarterback: Time. I’ll leave it at that.
