Broncos’ Fox: In A Regular Offense, Tebow Would ‘Be Screwed’

The general consensus is that Tim Tebow will not succeed in a traditional NFL offense. That’s no secret. In fact John Fox completely agrees with that statement and that’s why he’s running a variation of the type of offense that Tebow played on college. In an interview with Jeff Darlington of NFL.com, Fox said,

If we were trying to run a regular offense, he’d be screwed.

After the loss to Detroit, we decided if Tim is going to be our guy, we can’t do that other crap.  We had to tweak it. – John Fox to NFL.com

It’s not a knock on Tebow. This may be more of a movement to go against the grain and see if a modified college type of offense can be successful in the league. Football used to be primarily a running game. It wasn’t run with an emphasis on the gun until relatively recently.
