Broncos’ Eddie Royal Being Patient

Just one game removed from a career day, Eddie Royal didn’t have one reception, but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t make an impact in the Broncos win over the Chiefs.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post compared Royal to Percy Harvin in Florida’s offense with Tim Tebow running the show. Against the Chiefs, the Broncos ran a third option. In the first quarter, Tebow faked the handoff to Lance Ball, kept it like he was going to run, and then pitched it to Royal who ran for an 11-yard gain.

“These guys all want touches and it’s a way to touch the ball,” Fox said.

Royal finished the day with 16 yards on 3 carries. He had two touchdowns last week against the Raiders, one a 26-yard reception and one an 85-yard punt return.

If the Broncos continue to run it as much as they did on Sunday, we could very well see Royal returning more punts.

“Eddie is an explosive athlete, good football player,” Fox said. “We’re glad to have him back healthy, and he’s definitely contributed over the last couple of weeks.”

Look for a more expanded role for Royal who is capable of scoring from anywhere on the field.
