The Raiders knew that they could be seeing a lot from Tim Tebow, Willis McGahee, Elvis Dumervil, and even Von Miller. What they didn’t count on was Eddie Royal having the performance that he had on Sunday.

After being dropped on the depth chart and in the playbook under Josh McDaniels’ system, and struggling through injuries over the years, Royal is finally appreciated and healthy.

On Sunday he had a 26-yard TD reception and a critical 85-yard punt return for a TD when the game was tied with less than six minutes remaining.

For his heroics, the NFL named Royal the AFC’s special-team’s player of the week.

Royal was substituting in as a punt returner. He had not run one back yet this year. Royal touched the ball just twice in the Broncos win over the Raiders, and scored both times.

Congratulations to Royal for this well deserved award.

Hopefully Eddie can keep it up and be a key part in getting the Broncos to the play offs. He’s a difference maker when he’s healthy.
