When the Broncos take on the Raiders, there are certain inalienable truths. We know that the energy of the fans is going to be higher than on other game days. We know that there will be extra pop in the hits. We know that a win counts as two.
We also know that Sebastian Janikowski is as much a staple on the Raiders roster as the dark colors on their uniforms are. Now in his 12th season, the Polish Cannon has hit numerous field goals that have put games away. He is one of the best kickers to have ever played the game. Along with punter Shane Lechler, “Seabass” is the longest tenured Raider on the roster.
Janikowski didn’t practice at all this week and didn’t play in week 7 against Kansas City because of a hamstring injury. The Raiders had kicker Dave Rayner on speed dial in case Janikowski couldn’t go.
The last time Janikowski faced the Broncos, he made a 63-yard field goal which set an NFL record. He’s not in the thin Mile High air today, but his leg is deadly nonetheless.
