Is it the chicken or the egg? Is it Tim Tebow or the play-calling?
Dave Krieger of the Denver Post explains that during Fox’s telecast of Sunday’s game, former Bronco and current analyst John Lynch, spent a lot of time criticizing the Broncos’ play-calling.
“You know who needs to start doing the Tebow in my mind?” Lynch asked early on, with the Broncos trailing 10-3. “Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy. What I’m talking about, you’ve got to get him easy throws. I think you put a quarterback into rhythm by your play-calling. I want to see some of those quick throws that we’re seeing fromMatt Stafford.” (Denver Post)
During Monday’s press conference with John Fox, Krieger asked the head coach about the play-calling.
“Well, we threw some of those,” he said of the short routes Lynch advocated. “They were part of the game plan. We hit some and we missed some, regardless of what type of passes they were, and we tried ‘em all. We just have to get more consistent and better, whether it’s just the quarterback, we’ve got some young receivers out there, I think depth of routes, we had a couple drops involved, so it was a total team thing, not just the quarterback. The article is worth the read, but doesn’t quite answer the age old question – Is it Tebow or the play-calling?
