With A Lloyd Departure, Who Would Lead the Broncos In Receiving?

The only thing that might have a shot of competing with Tim Tebow news this week is that of Brandon Lloyd being put on the trading block. The trade deadline is on Tuesday.

The Broncos are heading in a different direction, offensively. John Fox favors a run-heavy offense, but trading away a Pro Bowl receiver who led the league in receiving last year? Sounds crazy doesn’t it?

Lloyd is in the final year of his contract, and the Broncos would like to get a 3rd to 5th round draft pick for him.

There have been three or four teams that have expressed interest in acquiring Lloyd, including Tennessee (to replace Kenny Britt) and Carolina.

The Broncos once were in dire need of receivers (week 2 when Tebow had to line up out wide), but the team is getting Eddie Royal and Demaryius Thomas back from injury after the bye. Let’s hope they can stay healthy.

Teams will likely wait until after the games on Sunday and Monday to make a move, but expect Lloyd to be shipped out for the fourth time in his career.

The NFL journeyman is averaging 70.8 yards per game this season, but has yet to score a touchdown.

The Broncos will miss a guy like Lloyd, but foresee Eric Decker continuing to have big games and Demaryius Thomas being the No.1 receiver they once envisioned.
