Broncos Player Profile: Kyle McCarthy

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

A deep bench is a necessity in the NFL these days. Just as the sky is blue and the grass is green, mid-season injuries are a sure thing. In order for teams to advance deep into the playoffs, backups need to step up and make it seem as if the regular starters were still playing. That’s why we’ve been focusing more on the Broncos second-string players lately. Yesterday, we looked at Cassius Vaughn and his ability to fill in for Champ Bailey when the team goes into the nickel. Today, we’re going to look at safety Kyle McCarthy. As Brian [...]

Broncos’ Andre Goodman Often Overlooked

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

When talking about areas of question surrounding the Denver Broncos, defense seems to be at the forefront of people’s minds. Why? Well, to put it lightly, the team had issues last season, and it hasn’t been a dominant force in the league for quite some time. “We’re building. Everybody is running to the ball, getting to the ball with an attitude,” Brian Dawkins said. “We’ve got to continue to do those things on a consistent basis, and see where we end up.”

Broncos’ Moore Fined $20K For Hit

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Welcome to the NFL Rahim Moore, where big hits can cost you big money. The Denver Post reported today that the NFL has fined the Denver Broncos‘ rookie safety $20,000 for a hit on Buffalo Bills‘ wide receiver Donald Jones, which happened last Saturday night in the Broncos preseason win over the Bills. Moore felt like the hit was a clean shot, as he did not launch himself at Jones or lead with his helmet.  Apparently, the NFL didn’t think the hit was so innocent. See the hit that cost Moore a chunk of change here. Follow Dustin on Twitter. Make [...]

Joe Montana Gives His Take On Tebow, Throwing Motion

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It seems like everyone involved with the sport of professional football has given their two cents about Tim Tebow, and most of them have been critical of the second year Denver Broncos quarterback.  But sometimes, you hear an opinion that isn’t so negative. Today on The Dan Patrick Show, Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana gave his opinion on Tebow and his much debated throwing motion. “If you look at what he did in college, he played in one of the toughest divisions there was . . . He had success throwing the ball. He got it away in time. [...]

Quarterback Controversies Highlight the Seahawks @ Broncos

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The 2010 Denver Broncos season did not have many highlights, but one of the few times Broncos fans had a lot to cheer about was when the Seattle Seahawks came to Mile High Stadium. That 31-14 victory in the second week of the season gave us all a little hope, but it would be short lived in a season we can’t forget soon enough. This Saturday night, the Seahawks will return to Mile High for the 3rd of 4 preseason games this year. And in an interesting twist, the most compelling quarterback competition may be taking place in the Seahawks camp.

Boomer Esiason Jumps On Tebow Non-Believer Bandwagon

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

I hate these kinds of posts, but news is news, and analysts all of a sudden think they can peg Tim Tebow with tomatoes before the season begins, so I have to report it. Boomer Esiason jumped on Merril Hoge’s bandwagon and is now criticizing the second year QB. He told Mike McCarthy of USA Today that Tebow has no business playing quarterback in the NFL. “He can’t play. He can’tthrow. I’m not here to insult him. The reality is he was a great college football player, maybe the greatest college football player of his time. But he’s not an NFL [...]

Broncos Player Profile: Cassius Vaughn

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

We constantly hear stories about Champ Bailey. He’s the Broncos Pro Bowl left cornerback. He’s a leader of the defense. He’s arguably the best shutdown corner in the league. But what about his backup, Cassius Vaughn? It turns out that Vaughn will likely get much more playing time this year, and for very good reason. He’s a playmaker. The second-year corner played in 13 games last season, mostly on special teams. This year, however, Vaughn has made some big plays in camp. Interceptions, forced fumbles, and fumble recoveries have all been part of his repertoire. In preseason play, Vaughn had [...]

‘Tebow Fourth Best QB’ According To Team Sources

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

There may have been earthquakes on the East Coast and in southern Colorado over the past 24 hours, but I think I just felt another earthquake at Dove Valley. In a recent Michael Silver article, Silver tells us that team sources have said that Tim Tebow might just be the fourth best QB on the Broncos roster. As one highly knowledgeable member of the organization told me Monday, “If everything was totally equal, and this were a competition based only on performance at this camp, Tebow would probably be the fourth-string guy. Kyle [Orton] is far and away the best, [...]

Broncos Tight End Tales

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

A good tight end is hard to come by, yet very necessary for team success. Back in the day, tight ends were really just additional linemen. Today, they must be able to block like linemen, but catch like wide receivers. When you talk about some of the best tight ends in the league, you have to talk about Jason Witten (Dallas), Antonio Gates (Chargers), Dallas Clark (Colts), and Chris Cooley (Redskins). All of these guys were part of passing offenses that were ranked top 10 in the league last year. All of these guys with the exception of Cooley were [...]
