It took fans of the Denver Broncos a long time to get used to the word “Invesco” in front of the name Mile High Stadium. Now, the Broncos faithful may have to grow accustom to a yet another new name.
As reported by the Denver Post, the Englewood, Colorado based sporting goods company Sports Authority is negotiating with Invesco, Ltd., the Broncos, and the Metropolitan Football Stadium District to take over naming rights of the stadium that has been home to the Broncos since 2001. If the deal is agreed upon, Sports Authority will pay $150 million over 25 years for the rights to have its name on the Broncos’ stadium.
The 20-year, $120 million naming rights deal with Invesco Funds Group, a Denver-based mutual fund group, was set to expire in 2020.
