Merril Hoge Doesn’t Think Highly Of Tebow

If Denver were Salem, and if it were 1693 instead of 2011, the Mile High City would be having it’s own version of the Salem Witch Trials today. In the center of town would stand Merril Hoge, the football analyst for ESPN.

Forget the tomatoes, Hoge would have to worry about axes and snakes being launched his way.

The story in the spotlight at Dove Valley is the quarterback competition. Many have observed Kyle Orton outperforming Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn in the quest to be the Broncos starting quarterback. Well, Hoge took his observations to a whole new level this morning on Twitter.

“Sitting watching tape off bronco offense from last year! Orton or Tebow? It’s embarrassing to think the broncos could win with tebow!!

Orton or tebow? QB play is not just about who works hard gives rare rare college speeches or who is a good guy!! Because orton works hard and is a good guy as well. It’s about who can play!! I just watched Tebow throw 5 out routes to a wide open WR! He was 1 for 5! 2 went in Dirt 2 in the stands! That throwing motion he changed? U can’t change who u r! Just watched 2 throws and he throws like he did in college!!

College credentials do not transfer to NFL raw raw speeches do not work! You must poses a skill set to play! Tebow struggle with accuracy!” – Merril Hoge

Forget being limited to 140 characters on Twitter. Hoge may have limited characters in Denver who support him now.

Tebow is in fact a project, but the Broncos knew that going in. The second-year quarterback thrives off of these words, so instead of throwing Hoge’s opinion to the side, perhaps we should thank him.

He may have just lit the fire inside Tebow’s belly.

Hoge was a marginal player and is a worse analyst.

  • John Ohman

Merril (nice name) doesn’t know jack!

  • Franklin Jones

Denver fans don’t think highly of Hoge. Around these parts, he may go down like Terry Bradshaw dissing Elway. Bradshaw ate his words and in the end ended up being the poor sucker that personally handed John Elway the Super Bowl trophy. ARE YOU UP TO HANDING TEBOW THE LOMBARDI, MERRIL?

Um Let’s see here, Merrily Hoge can go eat a Pair of Giraffe nuts with the rest of the Forrest Hump Retards on Fear factor because he is just a Poor Excuse for an Analyst who was worse portion han washed up as a player and let me put this Mildly here,THE MAN IS A DUCKING JOKE. Go coach little league you dumb Son of a Bitch and leave the Professionals to what the do best. Just Sayin …

MERRIL ..sorry stupid spell predict …

  • Franklin Jones

I don’t think Hoge was a big factor against Denver, as I recall.

Im not a huge fan of Merril Hodge either but I will give him this….the guy can analyze and study tape. He spends hours on end breaking down tape every week…and when he dissects it he knows wtf he’s talking about. It doesnt take rocket scientist to see that Orton is clearly better than Tebow. There’s some really delusional fans in Denver that needs to get their heads out from where it dont belong…this is the same attitude that got Jake the Snake chased out of Denver…Cutler was very talented, but during Plummer’s 3 year run with Denver he was only behind Manning and Brady in wins, broke numerous passing records, and idiots like these “Tebowmaniacs’ chased him outta town. Lloyd said he would be pissed if Orton left…that doesnt mean anything to you all…are your heads really stuck that far up?? Dont yall realize…The Broncos have a legit shot after signing Ty Warren…I really think theyre gonna steal the West…IF AND ONLY IF the guy who threw 40 tds and 7500 yards and two seasons with Denver starts…fwm

Does anyone know if ANY NFL player this past 2010 regular season, had a better Rushing TD / Rushing Attempt record (6 / 43 > or a TD For Every 7.17 Rushing Attempts ) then Tim Tebow?

I wonder how well Meril Hogge did in his rookie year – He must have at least led the

league also – to have such an Elitist attitude toward Tebow at this early point in his career.

It all depends what stats you want to remember or what you want to forget in order

to get your diatribe or prejudiced agenda across.

I believe Tebow also was in pretty good relative company to his stats for Passing TDs per Passing Attempt with the other NFL quarterbacks….

    Peter King certainly likes Tebow
