Some big news came out of Dove Valley yesterday when the Broncos traded veteran wide receiver Jabar Gaffney. Gaffney played in Denver for two seasons after a three year stint with the New England Patriots. During his time here, the ten year veteran out of Florida had 1,607 yards and 4 touchdowns. Gaffney was traded to the Mike Shanahan’s Washington Redskins for defensive end Jeremy Jarmon. The 6’3”, 286 lb. end is entering his third season, but has played in just 15 games. It’s just another day at Dove Valley for Kyle Orton. With the Broncos telling everyone that they are in serious talks with Miami about trading Orton, nothing has happened yet. Everyone remains on the edge of their seats except, well, Kyle Orton. Brandon Lloyd surprised the league and stole the hearts of Broncos fans last season. No argument can be made about that. The veteran receiver broke out of his shell to lead the league in receiving last year with 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns receptions. Adam Schefter is reporting that the Denver Broncos have traded Jabar Gaffney to the Washington Redskins for DE Jeremy Jarmon. Jarmon is entering his 3rd NFL season and has played in 15 games over that stretch, although he has only started a single time. Just minutes after the trade became public, John Elway tweeted the following: “We have acquired DT Jeremy Jarmon from Washington in exchange for WR Jabar Gaffney. Jeremy is an athletic defensive lineman with great versatility. John Clayton is reporting that the Denver Broncos are making a serious run at free agent defensive tackle Brandon MeBane. Mebane is a 26-year old who was drafted in 2007 by the Seattle Seahawks. He has 112 tackles and 10 sacks in 53 career games started. He has also been ranked by several national media members as one of the top DT free agents available this offseason. He would be a huge signing for Denver and would continue their massive upgrade on the defensive side of the ball. More information to come as details emerge. I don’t know about you, but I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve. The excitement is building in one area in particular.
