Elway and Tebow – Round Two Update from Tahoe

Round 2 saw John Elway earn another 17 points at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, which places him in 13th place going into the final round on Sunday.  After Saturdays round, Elway has 34 total points, and is 18 points behind leader, Jack Wagner.  Elway’s playing partners, Tony Romo and John Smoltz, had very good Saturday rounds, scoring 27 points and 22 points, respectively.  Although winning this tournament seems improbable, it seems very realistic that Elway can earn his 11th top ten finish in this tournament.   That being said, anything can happen during the final round of a golf tournament, so will this be the year that Elway makes some shots, gets some breaks, and makes a major comeback to win this tournament?

Elway is scheduled to start his 3rd and final round at 9:55 a.m. (PT) and will be paired with former NFL quarterback Mark Rypien and former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder.  Rypien and Mulder are tied for 10th place with a total of 36 points each.

Tim Tebow followed up his Friday round of -5 by improving three points, scoring a -2 on Saturday, putting him at a total of -7 for the tournament, which puts him tied in 66th place with Kansas City Chief head coach, Todd Haley.  Hopefully, as Tebow becomes more comfortable with the course he will continue to improve.  Despite his place on the overall leader board, Tebow continues to be a crowd favorite.

Houston Texan quarterback, Matt Schaub, and Green Bay Packer linebacker, A.J. Hawk, will join Tim Tebow at 8:55 a.m. (PT) for their 3rd round tee time.

The final round of the tournament will be televised on NBC from noon – 3 p.m. (PT)
