Broncos, Bailey Contract Talks Break Down Again

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Sources around the NFL are reporting that contract negotiations have once again broken down between the Denver Broncos and Pro Bowl cornerback Champ Bailey.  After the two sides met today, it is being reported that Bailey is not happy with Denver’s latest proposal and that they are not any closer to a new deal than they were earlier in the season, when a contract extension worth more than $40 million was taken off the table.  It’s also being reported that Bailey has put his Littleton, Colorado house up for sale. Champ Bailey A Giant Among Men

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

When I think of the Broncos resigning a player like cornerback Champ Bailey, I imagine a mafia-like discussion around the “family” dinner table. I think of the Broncos top level executives sitting in the dark basement of an Italian restaurant filled with cigar smoke, top-shelf scotch, and faces as serious as a newly elected President taking the oath of office. There are decisions where peace follows and then there are decisions where chaos ensues. However, it’s not hard to make a decision when you know what your value is.

Broncos, Bailey Resume Contract Talks

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Contract negotiations have resumed between the Denver Broncos and All-Pro cornerback Champ Bailey.  Bailey, who recently completed his seven-year, $63 million contract with the Broncos, finished the 2010 season with his tenth Pro Bowl selection, a record among cornerbacks in the NFL. Talks of a four-year extension worth more the $40 million was taken off the table earlier in the season.  Bailey, 32, made 45 tackles and had two interceptions for the Broncos in 2010.  If a new deal is not completed, Bailey will be eligible for unrestricted free agency once the NFL and the players union reach a new collective bargaining agreement.  In addition, it [...]

A Broncos’ Love Affair

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Happy sniper in a diaper day. As cupid hovers around, let’s hope he spends some extra time with the Denver Broncos. They’re an organization that needs some lovin’. After too many years of failing to make a playoff appearance, and combining for a 12-20 record over the past two seasons, the Broncos have come close if not hit rock bottom. Despite this, we still, well, love our team.  The Broncos have one of the best fan bases in all of sports with the 300+ consecutive sellouts and a large season-ticket waiting list. The trickle-down effect has become apparent as Broncos fans pass tradition and [...]

Even With Sharpe In, Broncos Still Outnumbered

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

As soon as Shannon Sharpe puts on the distinctive gold jacket and rubs his newly unveiled bronze bust, the Denver Broncos will officially have four members from the franchise enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The former tight end and current CBS Sports commentator will join quarterback John Elway, running back Floyd Little, and offensive lineman Gary Zimmerman as past members of the Broncos who have made it into the Hall of Fame. All of these men are quality representatives for the Broncos, but when you compare the amount of members from Denver in the Hall of [...]

Broncos WR’s Becoming Familiar With Training Room

AUTHOR: | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Broncos group of wide receivers was hit hard this week. First, Eddie Royal had hip surgery that will sideline him at least until May, and then Demaryius Thomas tore his Achilles tendon while working out in Georgia. Thomas will be out 6-8 months. In this week’s article on NFL.com, I talk about the rollercoaster ride that Eddie Royal has been on since entering the league. To read the article, go here.
