Congratulations to Brandon Lloyd for making his first Pro Bowl roster!

Lloyd is the only Bronco player making the trip halfway across the Pacific to Hawaii this year to take part in a “tip-of-the-hat” game that recognizes individual accomplishments.

Lloyd has 72 receptions for 1,375 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. He is ranked No. 1 in receiving yards and tied for 5th for touchdown receptions.

All of this comes after eight seasons in the league. When I spoke to Lloyd last week he said that he didn’t change his off season routine. His success is due to finding the right fit.

"“I think it was just the right system, and the right offensive coordinator who believed in my ability to throw me the ball. Also, the right quarterback who believed in my ability to pick me out of all the receivers out there on the field to throw the ball to.”"

An even better quote from the top receiver in the league came today during a conference call when he was asked what he would say to his previous teams and coaches that didn’t believe in him.

"“No, I want to say, ‘(Bleep) you.’ And I mean that in the most professional way.” – Denver Post"

You’ve got to love a receivers’ mouth. After Lloyd spoke, receivers coach Adam Gase got on the horn and explained that a lot of Lloyd’s success this season can be credited to Josh McDaniels.

"“I think most of the credit for that has to go to Josh,” Gase said in quotes released by the team. “He had a lot of confidence in (Lloyd) when we brought him in last June. He said, ‘Hey, work with this guy, get him up to speed for training camp,’ and he said, ‘I feel like if this guy is anywhere near where he was coming out [of the draft], if he shows some of the things he did on tape at San Francisco, Chicago, he has a chance to help us.’” – ESPN"

It turns out that for Lloyd, success is sweeter if long delayed.
