In a phone interview with Fanhouse.com, Pat Bowlen said that he was set on keeping Josh McDaniels around for the 2011 season. “I am not interested in making a change,” Bowlen said. “I’m very happy with Josh. Ahhh, Third and Long. Besides being a great sports bar in New York City, third and long has described the bane of the Denver Broncos’ existence. The team is 2-for-22 on third down in their last two games. They are ranked 26th in the league converting on third down just 34.3% of the time.

It appears that a post turkey trance has lingered like the smell of an old sweaty sock in the locker room. The Denver Broncos looked like they weren’t accustomed to playing at high altitude in this game. They started strong on their first three drives, putting a touchdown and two field goals up on the scoreboard. Their next five drives, however, ended in punts and a turnover. Broncos owner Pat Bowlen has officially and publicly exonerated his head coach, and backed the firing of Steve Scarnecchia, the poor schmo who videotaped a San Francisco 49ers pre-game walk-through a month ago in London. Worth note: Bowlen, in a prepared statement to the media, said Scarnecchia chose to run tape on the ‘Niners practice “on his own.”

Along with haircuts, list NFL taping incidents as one of life’s biggest mistakes an NFL coach can make. A Denver Broncos’ employee was fired after taping a 49ers practice in London, violating the league’s “integrity of the game” policy that is so heavily enforced. While Josh McDaniels and staff did not watch the tape, they failed to notify the league about the tape in a timely manner. Thus, the organization and McDaniels were fined $50,000 for the mistake. Both McDaniels and owner Pat Bowlen issued a response.
