The Denver Broncos have started making some specific game plans for their first preseason game against the Begnals on Sunday. However, the planning will not be as intensive as a regular season game would be. The cosmic gods must know that the number13 is an unlucky number. As soon as practice began, gale force winds picked up, shooting sand into eyes and field goal attempts wide left. D.J. Williams was once again in orange and Eddie Royal didn’t participate in the fully padded practice. As the players warmed up, the loud speakers belted out a mix of country and classic rock. Jack Bechta from the National Football Post put out an interesting piece about what’s hot in the NFL. Athletes are always trying to gain an advantage over their compeition. The difference from rookie season to sophomore season in the NFL is as clear as night and day. Broncos cornerback Alphonso Smith has noticed that in his second year in the league, he is already feeling much more comfortable in his role with the team. “I feel much better. Last year I was a rookie, so I didn’t know anything…Coming into this year, you have 20 games to look at. Just having that little experience under my belt gives me comfort. The name of the game for this evening’s two hour practice was “revive.” The offense needed life again after Kyle Orton described the squad as ”flat” this morning. To get back on the right track, Orton could be found taking snaps from rookie J.D. As we all know, the Broncos have a big trip to London planned at the end of October. There, they will take on the San Francisco 49ers in a regular season game at Wembley Stadium on October 31st. In front of a crowd that regards football as the sport that’s played with the feet, the Broncos and 49ers will have the privilege of showing Europe what NFL football is all about.
