His longevity in the league warrants the microphone.

I believe half the season is on the road so what’s your problem? If home field was at sea level his numbers would be lower? Why don’t you look at the statistics? Lentgh means nothing without accuracy and it’s not like he booted 60 yarders all the time.

Elam was an excellent kicker and I’m glad he could retire as a Bronco.

by the way why hasn’t anyone mentioned the fact that the Broncos SUCK!! That “genius” Pat Bolen hired a real dandy Head Coach who has ALREADY overstayed his welcome.. Time to GO!!

Let’s be accurate for posterity’s sake here, Jason DID NOT kick the “record setting” 63 yard field goal as was stated above.

On November 8th 1970 New Orleans Saints kicker Tom Dempsey kicked the “record setting” 63 yard field goal against the Detroit Lions.

I really am not splitting hairs here, because what Jason did was kick a “record tying” field goal, and that is important, why? Because in the world of RECORD keeping “first’s” always receive slightly more deference.. Example., Sir Edmond Hillary was the first to scale Mount Everest, we remember him because he was first, but the second guy who achieved the same feat none of us recall.

Jason Elam was a fine kicker regardless of this fact.
