The Excitement Of The Combine

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

I have to admit, I’m a big fan of watching the Combine. I’ve been on the treadmill the past couple of days watching the tests of agility, power, strength, quickness, and speed. It satisfies my football craving for now.
These guys have prepared their entire lives for a chance at going pro. A good performance at the Combine can get a player’s professional career off on the right foot. One missed catch, a slow jump on the 40, or just an overall bad day can make draft day a long and dreadful process for certain players.
I think I like the Combine so much because the various stations really [...]

Brian Dawkins Dishes

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

After a week off, I’m back and ready to dive right in. I got this great interview in my inbox while I was gone. Brian Dawkins went on ESPN Radio’s The Herd to talk about Brandon Marshall and some of the toughest guys he’s faced in the NFL. Entering his 15th season, Dawkins can dish on almost anything.
He said this about some of the toughest guys he’s had to face during his career:
“First of all, on my team, messing around with Westbrook in practice, trying to cover him in 7-on-7 drills and stuff – one of the hardest dudes to [...]

Broncos Image Of The Week

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Everyone knows that the off season is where the real work comes into play. Players get stronger in the weight room, build endurance by doing countless sprints, and critically watch game film of themselves with self improvement constantly on the brain. This week’s “image of the week” comes from training camp last August. After each practice, players had to run sideline to sideline at the end of practice. Here we have Andra Davis (#54) and Elvis Dumervil (#92) leading the linebackers as the offense awaits their turn.

I’ll be out of town for the next week, and won’t be able to update the site. Check [...]

Darrell Reid Opts For Unique Procedure To Repair Knee

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Darrell Reid, an important guy on special teams and a backup linebacker, underwent surgery on his left knee this week. The Denver Post reports that

“He bypassed microfracture surgery, opting instead for a unique operating procedure that had only been performed on one other NFL player.”

Being a medical writer, I’m curious as hell to learn about the surgery he had to repair the cartilage damage in his knee. He will still miss the entire off season which makes me wonder why he opted for this unique procedure.

Anyway, in the off season when an NFL player in injured, he has the choice to [...]

Broncos Need A Change At QB

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: 10 Comments

Here it is, I’m just gonna throw it out there. The Broncos need a big time QB.
It’s obvious from the past few Super Bowls that top QBs get their teams to the big game. Look at the last 3 Super Bowls. Tom Brady vs. Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger vs. Kurt Warner, and Drew Brees vs. Peyton Manning.
“Mistake-free” that McD.  Sure, Jay Cutler may have not been the right puzzle piece to the jigsaw here in Denver, and I trust McD’s evaluation of that scenario. However, the Broncos need to right the ship this offseason by bringing in someone with a powerful arm. It was apparent that [...]

Da Saints Done Won Da Super Bowl

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

As football fans, we’ve been very lucky. The past few Super Bowls have been so close and competitive that it almost makes you forget that your team isn’t playing in the big game. Historically, it was the $2.6 million commercials that got most of the attention as the game was a time to grab a beer from the fridge or chat it up with friends. Before yesterday, for the 43 Super Bowls that had been played, 21 were decided by 2 or more TDs.
Unfortunately, as Broncos fans, we’ve been on the sour end of many Super Bowl blowouts. The Broncos first three Super Bowl appearances were lost by an average of 22.6 points [...]
