Classic Video: Broncos’ 1998 Super Bowl Win

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

After taking to the John Elway vs. Brett Favre debate, I’ve decided to post a great video from the 1998 Super Bowl matchup between the Broncos and the Packers. It’s from the NFL’s Sound Tracks series and gives you a look and listen to the players and coaches during the game. Enjoy!

John Elway VS. Brett Favre

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

Now that Brett Favre’s season, and possibly career is over, Patrick Saunders from the Denver Post gets the debate going. Who was the better quarterback – Elway or Favre?
Both QBs played with a lot of heart, and a type of reckless abandon. There are 7 Super Bowl appearances and 3 Super Bowl wins between the two of them.
Brett Favre gets the nod for better numbers: 65,127 total yards, 464 TD passes, 310 INTs, and a QB rating of 85.4 isn’t too bad for a guy who’s played in 289 regular season games and 22 playoff games.
John Elway stands at 51,475 total yards, 300 TD passes, 226 [...]

The running game will change thanks to moving away from the zone-blocking scheme. It’s about time.
Whether or not tampering was involved in Mike Nolan’s departure, the Broncos say they were ready to part ways with the defensive coordinator.
Kenny McKinley learned that he would be much more than a receiver, and he’s got a lot of work to do in the offseason.
Kyle Orton will need a big year in 2010 to secure a long term contract anywhere.
Could Elvis Dumervil follow Nolan to the Dolphins? Adam Schefter says it’s a possibility.
Think Mike Shanahan will trade Clinton Portis back to the Broncos? I [...]

Best Conference Championship Outcome

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s an exciting time for the Colts and the Saints. Not so much for the Vikings and the Jets. The Colts and the Saints will be playing in Super Bowl XLIV in less than 2 weeks.
As far as I’m concerned this is the best Super Bowl matchup the NFL could’ve asked for. Both teams were undefeated through the first 14 weeks of the season. Both teams lost consecutive games to end the season, but then picked it up again in the playoffs. The cast is top notch with two elite quarterbacks lining up under center, high profile WRs and RBs, [...]

Broncos Image Of The Week

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the conference championship games upon us, I’ve decided to look back to the 1998 AFC championship game. The Broncos beat the New York Jets 23-10 to advance to their 2nd consecutive Super Bowl appearance. The Jets lost a 10-0 lead with Vinny Testaverde and Keyshawn Johnson leading the team. Our image of the week comes from that game when Howard Griffith got into the endzone in the 3rd quarter of the game.

Some Tasks To Ease Off Season Blues

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

I can feel the ‘football’ attitude dip. While the smell of pigskin is still in the air with the playoffs and all, I’m feeling a little lost as I think about the Broncos long off season looming ahead. After all, I’m still recovering from last year’s off season transactions. I’m not quite ready for more, and believe me, there will be a lot more. It’s already started at the coaching level, and when the time comes, certain players will be hitting the road as well.
If any of you are feeling the “off season blues” like I am, here are several things you [...]

Nolan Needs Another Season In Denver

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I’m actually going to agree with Woody Paige on this one. Mike Nolan did a great job as defensive coordinator and didn’t deserve a kick to the curb.
Think about the Broncos’ defense in 2008. Do words like dreadful, undisciplined, and touchdown gift wrappers come to mind? That squad gave up 374.6 yards per game (29th overall) and 28.0 points per game (30th overall).
The team was then turned upside down most notably on defense and on the coaching roster. This year’s defense gave up 315 yards per game (7th overall) and 20.3 points per game (14th overall). Keep in mind that the Broncos were ranked [...]

Great NFL Conference Championship Scenario

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

I have to say, for the Broncos not making it to the playoffs this year, I am still thoroughly interested in what’s going on in the NFL. With the exception of the Jets, the three other teams that have made it to the conference championship game were expected to do so.
As far as I’m concerned, the Jets are the Cinderella story of post season play this season. They were 4-6 after week 11, and picked up steam as they closed out their season. The media made fun of Rex Ryan’s approach to coaching and Mark Sanchez’s approach to eating hot [...]

Coaching Departures In Denver

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

The off season change has already started with Denver’s coaching staff. Both Rick Dennison (offensive line coach) and Bobby Turner (running backs coach) got promotions elsewhere. Talk about the importance of networking. Dennison will be working with Gary Kubiak again in Houston as the offensive coordinator while Turner rejoins his buddy, Mike Shanahan, in Washington as an associate head coach. While we hate to see these longtime coaches leave, we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. It’s going to be hard to fill their shoes.
In other Broncos’ news, Elvis Dumervil gets the job done on and [...]
