Scheduling Conspiracy

Just when you thought everything in the universe was going against the Ravens already, Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun points out that the Ravens are the only AFC North team that must play three games against teams coming off a bye, starting this Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

One advantage of coming off a bye, which the Ravens are doing this week, is that your opponent may have sustained some injuries in the prior week while you were at home healing. Thus, that aspect is lost for the Ravens.

This thing runs deep too. First, the Ravens played five of their first seven games of the 2000 season on the road. Then, even after winning the Super Bowl, they were one of the only champs this decade not to have their following season-opener on national television.</description>
