Gus Johnson went on the Dan Patrick Show to talk about his call during the Brandon Stokley catch. He said, “I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. It was the most incredible thing.  I’ve seen a lot of great things in sports.  I started doing this in 1990, but I’ve never seen anything; not like in that in football. If you thought only 3 year olds and schizophrenics flew off the handle in public, you were proven wrong this past week as athletes, politicians, and entertainers publicly displayed their passive-aggressive or just plan aggressive behavior on T.V. Here are the top 5 outbursts from this week. 5. Michael Jordan v. Bryon Russell at the HOF induction ceremony – Everyone knows M.J.’s the greatest, but was bringing up “the shot” an appropriate thing to do at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony? I don’t think so, and it shows that without a ball in his hand, M.J. just makes an ass out of himself. [...]

I don’t know if anyone deserved to win today’s game, but I’ll take a caught tipped pass for a 12-7 win over a 7-6 loss any day of the week. It was your run of the mill week 1 mistake filled game laced with penalties, dropped balls, and tipped passes. Kyle Orton will be starting for the Broncos tomorrow. He practiced all week and will be wearing a glove to protect the stitches in his finger. According to reports, his throws have been accurate and strong despite the injury. Thus, our Image of the Week is Orton in practice:  

With all of the questions surrounding this year’s Broncos team one thing is for sure, Champ Bailey is healthy and ready to get back to business. Bailey enters week 1 with an immediate challenge against WR Chad Ochocinco (formally known as Chad Johnson). The Broncos look to forget about last season and the off season drama by kicking off the 2009 season in Cincinnati. Last year, the Bengals went 4-11-1 with an injury plagued roster. Like the Broncos, the Bengals have a lot to prove, and are looking forward to starting with a clean slate. Both teams see it as a winnable game. Brandon Marshall is at practice and keeping his mouth shut, QBs are healing and Kyle Orton expects to start, and the defense has some turnover-producing confidence after last week’s game against Arizona. WhoDeyFans, a Cincinnati Bengals fan site, shot a few questions over to me about this Sunday’s matchup.  What Scares You About the Bengals? The Bengals tend to be underestimated because of their dysfunctional 2008 season. With Carson Palmer back, this team has the potential to be an offensive powerhouse. Even with losing T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Palmer still has the Ochocinco and Laveranues Coles options in the air, and Cedric Benson on the ground.
