A Weekend Without Football

It was our first weekend without football since August, and luckily I was a little too distracted to care. I had a big writing assignment due, and the X-games were on, so that one football-less week didn’t kill me. There was still a ton of Super Bowl coverage on anyway. However, I am a little concerned once the Super Bowl is over. It’s not every week that someone throws a double backflip on a snowmobile to make you forget that there won’t be football on Sunday. We are forced to adjust to lazy Sunday afternoons just as the rest of the non-football watching folk have been doing year round. You may see friends you have not seen in a while, or finally make it to your in-laws Sunday night dinner. The time has come for your wife to finally ask you to clean out the garage, or for you to go watch your boyfriend play poker. No more excuses!

In Broncos related news, Mike Shanahan will not be coaching the Chiefs. Thank goodness! He was actually on the golf course on Friday when reports came out that he was interested in the job. Those reports were false, and actually made Chris Mortensen look like a fool. Shanahan prefers to golf this time of year, but he could make his hobby a year round activity. The only other opening for a head coaching position is in Oakland. All of us know that he’d go to Kansas City before going back to Al Davis and the Raiders. Hell, he’d go to Mars before going back to Oakland. I guess that gives Jay Cutler another steady golf partner this off-season.
