Broncos Looking Forward To A True Test

I’m so proud of the Broncos performance on Monday night. However, it’s time to move on to week 2. It’s a whole new ball game, and we’re going up against the big dogs now. The Chargers may have lost to the Carolina Panthers last week at home, but Mike Shanahan doesn’t buy their performance. He says,

"“It wasn’t San Diego’s normal game. They didn’t play like they normally play. We know we’re going to get their best shot. I have not seen them give up 250 yards in a half before…You’ve got 10 Pro Bowl players on that football team from a year ago, the same team, the same scheme. They just didn’t play at the level they normally played, but we know we’ll get that level this week” (Denver Post)."

The one thing that the Broncos won’t get is Shawne Merriman. I was really looking forward to seeing how Ryan Clady would’ve handled him, but Merriman called it a season on Tuesday with torn ligaments in his knee. Playing through pain is apparently the cool thing to do. Especially, if you’re a San Diego Charger. Don’t get too comfortable, folks. In this league, a replacement can put on quite a show. We know that based off of Eddie Royal’s performance Monday night when he replaced Brandon Marshall. Teams in the NFL have a lot of depth, so expect Jyles Tucker to come out with fire in his eyes.
