Rod Smith On Marshall’s Shoulder
Brandon Marshall is a lucky guy. He’s got the newly retired Rod Smith to talk to on a daily basis. Smith has become Marshall’s mentor, and the Broncos are not paying him a dime for getting the young wideout on the straight and narrow. In an interview, Smith said,
“We talk every other day. It’s kind of our standard thing. We have to talk. I’m on track with him, seeing how he’s doing. We probably talk more about life than football. Every time he does something right, I let him know. And every time he does something wrong, I let him know” (Denver Post).
Smith is trying to repay the Broncos organization for allowing him to join their roster. With Smith on Marshall’s shoulder, I like where Marshall could wind up. Instead of in jail, he could be on his way to Hawaii in February if things play out right.
This shows that Rod Smith was not only a great player, but an amazing human being as well.
