Notes From Broncos Passing Camp

We didn’t know if John Lynch was going to play another season until after he played in the Pro Bowl. Apparently, all he needed was little R&R to rev his engine again. Lynch, 37, thinks that he will start on defense despite the Broncos’ decision to bring in free agents Marquand Manuel and Marlon McCree. Lynch welcomes the competition saying,

“There’s competition. All I wanted was an assurance that I’d be given every opportunity to earn a job as an every-down player. Whether that happens or not, I don’t know. They brought in a lot of guys.” (Denver Post).

As long as Lynch is still making plays, he will make the team. He’s still got some hard hits in him, and he has the experience to guide younger players on the roster. Throw in his competitiveness and he should have another strong year as a Denver Bronco. Look for him to retire at the end of the season.

On another note, Travis Henry is not the only player having hamstring issues. Dre Bly will miss the rest of passing camp because of a pulled hamstring suffered in Tuesday’s practice. He should be good to go for the beginning of Monday’s team camp.

Brandon Marshall likes to impersonate Jay Cutler. As Cutler was talking to the media on Wednesday, Marshall got behind Cutler and said, “Jay’s not my favorite guy right now.”  Marshall was referencing Cutler’s comment about his freak arm injury from falling into a television set. Two months ago, Cutler said, “Brandon isn’t my favorite person right now.”
