Notes From Broncos Passing Camp

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

We didn’t know if John Lynch was going to play another season until after he played in the Pro Bowl. Apparently, all he needed was little R&R to rev his engine again. Lynch, 37, thinks that he will start on defense despite the Broncos’ decision to bring in free agents Marquand Manuel and Marlon McCree. Lynch welcomes the competition saying,
“There’s competition. All I wanted was an assurance that I’d be given every opportunity to earn a job as an every-down player. Whether that happens or not, I don’t know. They brought in a lot of guys.” (Denver Post).

Broncos Backs A Strong Bunch

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Everyone knows that the Broncos running game is strong year in and year out. The blocking scheme is conducive to 1,000 yard seasons. With Travis Henry as the starter, and Selvin Young and Ryan Torain as backups, no one can argue their strength. Now, add ten year veteran, Michael Pittman, to the mix and start jumping up and down on your couch like Tom Cruise on Oprah. Pittman is most notable for his solid career with Tampa Bay, but he also had a couple of good seasons with Arizona. Should Pittman pass his physical today at Dove Valley, he will sign a [...]

Spygate Is Not On The Broncos Mind And Rookies Adjust To NFL

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

- From the Denver Post a couple of days ago: “Man who hoodwinked Broncos commits suicide”
- Rookie Ryan Clady’s new nickname: Sweet Feet. Sounds good to me for an offensive tackle.
- Speaking of rookies, the Broncos newcomers are doing everything they can to acclimate to the NFL’s rigorous demands. Ryan Clady has been waking up at 5:00 am, and Eddie Royal has made cheat sheets for the Broncos large playbook to wear on his wrists.
- Tony Scheffler is still having trouble with that surgically repaired left foot, and will sport a protective boot for the next two weeks.
- New kicker Matt Prater thinks he can [...]

Broncos Practice Starts

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL, News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Some notes from the Broncos first two organized practices:
- Boss Bailey tried to get the inside scoop from his brother, but even Champ Bailey is learning about everybody and can’t give Boss a lot of information. The many new faces on this year’s squad should make for an interesting summer camp.
- Who knows which back will start for the Broncos this season. It looks like Selvin Young, Andre Hall, and rookie Ryan Torain have a good shot at the job because of Travis Henry’s most recent injury. Henry pulled his hamstring during Friday’s conditioning session, and will not participate in practices until passing camp starts next Tuesday.
- Brandon Marshall has been running pass [...]

This Week’s Broncos News

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

There’s not much going on in Broncos country this week. Former Pro Bowl guard Mark Schlereth (a.k.a. Stinky) now endorses the state of Colorado’s staple food, green chile. His “Stinkin Good Green Chili” hit shelves today in 120 supermarkets around the state.
The cocaine possession charge against DT Marcus Thomas was dropped by Florida prosecutors.
Toby Peterson of the Dallas Stars feels for Jay Cutler. Peterson also has Type I diabetes and says that Cutler will be able to play through it. He says that Cutler will be able to handle it better now than if he had found out about his condition when he was a child.
 “He’s more mature and [...]

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL, Video | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Angry T compiled a list of “The Top Hilarious Bad Athlete Commercials,” and John Elway’s Wsyi Wyg commercial came in at the #9 spot. Next to the clip, Angry T says, “I watched this commercial several times and I still don’t know if this entire commercial was about John Elway’s wiener.”

Kyle Shanahan Follows In His Footsteps

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL, News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Mike Shanahan’s son, Kyle Shanahan, 28, has a good sense of humor. As we know, Mike was fired by Al Davis and the Raiders four games into his second coaching season, but Kyle said that he would consider a head coaching job with the Raiders should the opportunity arise. “Well, that might be fun. Then, I might be able to do something my father couldn’t–get along with Al.”
Kyle is the youngest offensive coordinator in the league today. As a coach with the Houston Texans, and a guy that as a kid, used to run fly patterns next to Rod Smith and Ed McCaffrey in [...]

Ryan Clady’s Interview

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Check out this interview with OT Ryan Clady, the Broncos #1 pick in this year’s draft. Clady doesn’t think he’s going to the Broncos (the interview was conducted before the draft), and he claims that he is a choir boy. Let’s hope he speaks the truth, so that he doesn’t get swallowed up by Denver’s nightlife scene which has been harmful to several Broncos players in the past.

Jay Cutler On Sugar

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Jay Cutler’s recent diabetes diagnosis has made headlines across Broncos country this week. Cutler reported to training camp last year weighing 238 lbs, but finished the season at 203 lbs. Cutler says that he doesn’t like doctors or trainers and tries to stay away from them as much as possible, which made his condition difficult to diagnose. He even admits that some of his throws didn’t have as much pop as they should have. Now, that he is being treated with insulin injections, his performance should improve dramatically next season.  This could be a good thing for Cutler and the Broncos.
