Star safety for the Washington Redskins, Sean Taylor, passed away today as a result of a gunshot wound. Taylor was shot in his Miami home by an intruder on Monday, and remained in critical condition in a Florida hospital. For more details about the shooting, go to Yahoo Sports.
Former Bronco RB, Clinton Portis, had the difficult task of delivering the news to his current Redskins teammates (Rocky Mountain News).
Broncos players, Nate Webster, D.J. Williams, and Chris Myers played with Taylor at the University of Miami.
“It’s just the worst,” Myers said. “It just shows you how that no one is safe once again.”
The Broncos dealt with the shooting death of their teammate, Darrent Williams, last season.
Nate Webster said “Ever since what happened to D-Will, I’ve been really careful to go out, and now this happens in Sean’s own hometown, his own house.”
Webster is not the only one concerned about the safety of NFL players. Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports examines the deaths of young NFL players as well as other problems that pervade the game.
Predominantly Orange would like to extend its sympathy to family and friends of the Taylor family, and the entire Redskins’ organization.
