The Elway’s Are a Family United on and off the Field

I’m feeling a bit nostalgic at the moment thinking of the Superbowl runs that we had in the late 90’s. It makes me wonder if we are ever going to get back to the glory days that once permeated Broncos country. Well, if Jack Elway is anything like his Hall of Fame father, John, then we might have something to look forward to here in Denver.

Jack received an athletic scholarship from Arizona State and he is already as big as John when he left college. The 6-foot-3, 215 lb high school QB is absorbing all he can from his father who is also the QB coach at Cherry Creek High School.

John helped his son get through some difficult games including his most recent playoff lose in which he threw 7 interceptions. Jack asked his father what to do, and John responded with “You know what you do, you’ve got to keep battling. I don’t care if you throw 10, let’s keep trying to win this football game.” Classic Elway. A true fighter.

So, what else has John Elway been up to lately? Well, he plays the role of “dad” very well. As a spokesman for Allstate Insurance Co.’s teen safe driving campaign, he recently had Jack and his 16 year old daughter, Juliana, sign a contract stating that they would not talk/text on their cell phones while driving. Now, that his playing days are over, John has had more time to spend with his kids; And instead of playing on Sunday afternoons, he is watching from the sidelines on Friday nights.
