Some Thoughts About the Broncos-Chargers Game

Posted by: Kim Constantinesco

Like many other teams in the NFL, the Broncos are a battered bunch. Some nagging injuries include a strained knee and ankle (Travis Henry), a sprained knee (Javon Walker), a concussion (Mike Bell), and hip problems (John Lynch and Hamza Abdullah). These players’ availability for Sunday’s game will be known by Wednesday. It’s a good thing the Broncos bye week is the week after they play the Chargers.

Even though the Chargers are playing like a high school team right now, they are talented enough to pull out a win in Denver. We all know that LaDainian Tomlinson is capable of being a big playmaker, and he could easily run straight through the Broncos crippled defensive line. We can’t have Champ Bailey as our only line of defense against him. He should be getting picks instead of worrying about the running game anyway.

How can we expect to compete with teams like the Cowboys, Patriots, and Colts if we have trouble with teams like the Raiders and Bills?

This week will convey a lot about the character of this Bronco team. After two consecutive loses and a week before their bye week, the Broncos will step up and handle their business because Mike Shanahan will ensure his teams’ success through countless hours of preparation.
