Two summers ago I went to the Broncos training camp while I was on vacation. I saw Jerry Rice trying to make it one more season as one of the best receivers in the NFL. I also saw Jake Plummer trying to get his football career off the ground for the 6th season in a row. Middle finger right back to ya, Jake!
This brings me to the point that I want to make. NFL players have a difficult time determining when to retire. Basketball is different, with the exception of Jordan, because players know when their time has come. Their asses are usually a little sore from sitting on the bench during the game.
Here are my top 3 NFL players that need to retire:
1. Morten Anderson (ATL-Kicker) – With the distinction of being the oldest player in the league, Anderson is still nailing his kicks. Too bad he’s the same age as my mother and without Michael Vick, any hope of getting a SuperBowl ring is lost.
2. Brett Favre (GB- QB) - Check out this blog to see why Favre should be back on his farm milking cows right now.
3. Ron Dayne (HOU- RB) – for a guy who cannot stay in shape or run behind a Denver offensive line, he should no longer be in the league.
Who else needs to hang up the spikes?
